A thirty-something-year-old woman living, working, and constantly discovering herself in NYC. Speaks four languages, drinks way too much coffee, reads (and falls asleep) on the subway, and paints when inspiration strikes.
She is the Renaissance Woman.
Formerly called NYC Epidemiologist Writes, this blog was originally intended to share my experience and insights during the pandemic when New York City was the COVID epicenter. Over time, it evolved into a space where I could write about anything but work.
As I brainstormed the direction for the rebrand, I thought about what topics I should focus on in my writing. I realized I have too many interests–books, science, data, food, art, languages, nature, and beyond.
I began to think of my life as a stained-glass window in a Gothic church. Each piece has its own color and shape, but together they form a complete story.
That image led to the idea of a Renaissance woman–someone who embraces curiosity across many disciplines. Here’s a funny story: my college Shakespeare literature professor once called me a Renaissance woman. Now I live in Harlem, home of the historic Harlem Renaissance.
That’s how The Renaissance Woman was born.
This website is my stained-glass window life–I’m glad you made it here.
